Welcome to Hayes Days! I’m Meghan Hayes.
Being born, raised, and always residing in Georgia makes me just about as peachy as you can get. Raised near Atlanta, I am now residing with my husband, our pack of rescue animals, and 80-or so cattle on his family’s functioning farm in a very small town outside of Athens, Georgia. Farm living is not where I saw myself growing up, but I get all the beauty and benefits without the work thanks to his father running a smooth ship! Also, Athens offers an amazingly eclectic mix of city and country, indie and mainstream, regional and international- the list goes on. Putting a college in the middle of nowhere may not have been such a bad idea after all. I’ve become quite attached to this town. I can have my Starbucks one day and venture to a local coffee shop the next. The mix in Athens suits the mix in me. I’m a girl of many interests. Be it decorating, crafting, creating, Disneying (if you do it, you know), styling, or some other ambition I’ve taken on, Hayes Days is my place for each interest to have its day.
Both my mom and Walt Disney inspire me. My mom is amazing, as are most moms. She, as well as my father, encouraged me to be creative all my life, letting three-year-old me have 100 imaginary friends, five-year-old me turn the living room into an art gallery, seven to nineteen-year-old me take piano lessons, and sending twenty-year-old me to Europe. They both afforded me many opportunities to explore. My mom is quite talented though. She started making crafts to sell thirty years ago before it was cool, made all my clothes until I was four, made several dozen wedding cakes (including mine), built furniture, and honestly the list never ends! I want to be just like her when I grow up. Walt Disney is an inspiration to many, and, like my mother, he always found a way to make things possible. He said, “We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.”
Follow the paths I take as I aspire to pursue new things here at Hayes Days.
